Mardi Gras Bunco

Last week I held a Mardi Gras themed bunco party at my house.  My first thought was to use some great designs that I had seen on Hostess for the Mostess.  I used the free printables for score cards, table signs and food labels.  They fit the party theme perfectly!

I had a vase with Mardi Gras colored flowers and used beads and a mask to decorate it.  I also had roses left over from Valentine’s Day that I also used.

I hung bright colored paper masks that I made around as decor.

For the food, I had a Muffaletta bar so everyone could make their own tasty New Orleans style sandwich.

I also served some other New Orleans style food like spicy shrimp dip, red beans & rice and sausage medallions.

Of course, we had to have Hurricanes to drink.  I used Sandra Lee’s recipe for this and it definitely was a strong drink!

A traditional Mardi Gras dessert is the King Cake.  Instead of doing a big King’s Cake, I did individual Mini King’s Cakes.

Guests came in beautiful masks, a lot of colorful beads and everyone had a night of fun!

Team Themed Cocktails for your Super Bowl Party

Get everyone in the spirit at your Super Bowl party with these themed drinks for your team.  I know that beer is usually the choice to drink for the game but who doesn’t love a theme!!!

Pittsburgh Steelers – The Black & Gold

2oz. Black Vodka

1oz. Goldschlager

Yellow Sugar Crystals

Dip the rim of the martini glass in the yellow-colored sugar crystals.  Pour black vodka into an ice filled shaker and shake well.  Strain into the martini glass.   Top with the Goldschlager so the gold flakes float on top.

Green Bay Packers – Old Fashion Wisconsin

3oz. of Brandy

2 Dashes of Angostura Bitters

1 Tsp. of Sugar (A sugar cube works best)

1 Dash of Water

1 Lemon Peel for Garnish

Place sugar cube in the bottom of the glass.  Saturate the cube with water and bitters.  Muddle the ingredients together.  Fill the glass with ice cubes and the brandy.  Stir well.  Garnish with lemon peel and enjoy!
