Blast Off with this Out of This World Birthday Party

Once again, I have a creative friend that created a great party and this time she did it all while she was very pregnant with her fourth baby! She never lets any details slide and this party was definitely “Out of this World”! Her son is in to space and planets so she created some great elements with this theme.

I adore these inflatable planet balloons from Amazon.

The kids enjoyed a fun planet toss on the stairs with bean bags and buckets.

Another fun activity for the kids was cracking open “moon rocks”.

Here is the recipe that Liz used:

Recipe:

2 cups sand, 1 cup flour, and 1/2 cup water.

You can also add food coloring.

Shape it around the ball (or whatever you want to put inside) and then let dry

Snacks are always more fun and tasty when then have names like Planetary Popcorn, Jupiter Jigglers and Mars-Mallows Pops!

Liz always make the most wonderful decorated cookies like these rocket cookies!

What a wonderful party for such a special birthday boy!!!

Radio Flyer – Red Wagon 1st Birthday

This is a fun Red Wagon 1st birthday from Growing Up Gardner. Not only is this an adorable party but it was all put together for under $150! The printables were purchased from Dimple Prints and added a great touch to this celebration. A great idea that I love is writing your child their own personal book. This is such a special and personal present that will create many memories. I am also always impressed with food presentation and I love the wagon cake balls and wagon wheels that were served with barbecue style foods.

Dolijanchi – First Birthday

I love learning about different cultures traditions! Do you know what a Dolijanchi is? Well this one from Yoshiko Photography is such a wonderful celebration and looks like so much fun! Doljanchi is a traditional Korean celebration of a child’s first birthday. The first birthday has special meaning in Korean culture, and some people believe that the first birthday is an opportunity to pray for blessings for the child’s future. At the party, the key event is the doljabi, when the child is placed in front of a table with a display of symbolic items like pens, books, rice, money, and so forth. Korean parents believe that their child’s fate will be dictated by whatever he or she picks up at the dolijabi. A child who grabs a pen, for example, will become a scholar, while a child who grabs a bundle of string will have a long life. This event is usually eagerly watched by the crowd.

This birthday girl chose a brush and a stethoscope which represent a scholar and a doctor! WOW!

“Little Man” 1st Birthday Party

We recently just celebrated my son’s first birthday. I chose to do a “Little Man” party for SO many reasons! After having 3 petite daughters, I now have a hefty little boy who is definitely quite different from the girls! I have called him my little man since he was very young. He also has been told by many people how much he resembles my dad! Well…my dad is known for his mustache so that’s just another reason to incorporate mustaches into our “Little Man” event!

The party was a special event filled with family and friends!

I started by making invitations in the shape of a tie and adding a mustache to the front. The tie opened and had all of the party details inside.

This is a quick wreath that I made with a tie and a cut-out number one.

I also made a shirt with a tie on it for him to wear during the party.

This is the orange and green tie banner that I made and hung on the mantel.

I incorporated ties, hats and mustaches into the decor throughout the house. I also hung pictures of his first year with clothes pins. This is always fun to look back at all the changes that they go through in a year.

I was so lucky to have this WONDERFUL cake made for him! It was delicious as always!

He also had his own smash cake that he thoroughly enjoyed!!! At one point, he even tried to pick the entire cake up to put in his mouth!

For lunch I tried to incorporate a lot of “manly” foods. I served a favorite “Man Dip”; Bow Tie Pasta; Jalapeno Popper Dip; Little Man Hot Dogs and Sliders.

I had water, tea and an “adult” beverage station.

The kids also had their own drink station! They had their own “beer station” where they could make their own root beer floats. I decorated the root beer bottles with ties. I also had mason jars with mustache straws. The kids thought this was a lot of fun to make and to drink with their mustaches!

For party favors, I made chocolate mustaches from a candy mold. These went VERY quickly!!!

A fun activity that everyone loved was the photo station with the mustaches. I cut out different types of mustaches and had them set out in a mason jar. Guests got to choose a mustache and have their picture taken.

I tried so had to get a good picture of my dad and son together but my son didn’t know what to think about the mustache on his face!

We have a tradition at my kids parties of always having a pinata. This is the neck tie pinata that the kids got to enjoy (and yes…it’s really that big!)

I also have to thank Watermelon Photography for wonderful pictures of my “little man”!!

I always enjoy being able to celebrate my children’s birthdays with such wonderful family and friends!!!

A Magical Mermaid Party

Elegant Equestrian Themed Party

I came across this equestrian themed Bat Mitzvah on The Martha Blog and was so impressed by so many of the details! Guests were greeted by amazing horses that were covered with moss, stone and flowers AND the hoofs were adorned with diamonds. I LOVE how the bar table was decorated with equestrian trophies made with flowers. The “flower arrangements” on the kids dining tables were made from green gummy rings, bubble gum and other candy. One of my favorite elements is that the favor bags were made to look like feed bags.

What a wonderful celebration this must have been!
