Rainbow Slushie

My daughter loved helping me with her Rainbow Pool Party.  One of her favorite things that we made together were Rainbow Slushies.  The kids really enjoyed these and the some of the parents seemed to love them just as much!

Here is how we made our Rainbow Slushies.

Materials Needed:

Ice pops and Mason jars

Directions:

1.  Pick out the colors of ice pops that you want to use.  We started with purple so it could go on the bottom.

2.  With a kitchen mallet or wooden spoon, crush the ice pop in the package.

3.  Empty the first crushed colored ice pop into the jar. Level out the crushed ice with a spoon to make it easier to put the next color on.

4.  Repeat this step with each color until you have completed the colors of the rainbow.

5.  Put the lid on the mason jar and keep in the freezer.  Take the slushie out of the freezer 20-30 minutes before serving so it can soften some.

Enjoy!

How to Make a Balloon Arch

When I have a vision, I usually do everything I can to make it happen and luckily I have a great husband and dad that helped me with this one!  For my daughter’s Rainbow Pool Party, I thought that having a rainbow balloon arch would be perfect to tie  these two themes together.

This is a project that is great for so many different types of parties!  You can use this for a party entrance, over a dessert table or as a party back drop.

Here are some easy instructions to make a balloon arch.

Supplies:

Balloons

PVC pipe

Stand – wood, metal, buckets with Plaster of Paris, or I used two metal outdoor umbrella bases

  1. 1.  Cut the PVC pipe to the appropriate length for your arch.  You may need to attach to pieces together depending on the height of the arch.
  2. 2.  Place the PVC pipe in your stand where you are going to use it.
  3. 3.  Inflate your balloons with helium or air.  We just used air.  Tip – Don’t blow up the balloons too early because they will pop or deflate.
  4. 4.  Tie the ends of two balloons together and then repeat this with two more balloons.
  5. 5.  Take one set of balloons and twist it around the other set of balloons to form a cluster of four balloons.
  6. 6.  Attach the cluster of balloons on the PVC pipe by wrapping two balloons in the cluster around the arch by wrapping two balloons in the cluster around the pipe.
  7. 7.  Continue this process with the appropriate colors to make your arch.  We did the colors of the rainbow but you could alternate colors, use a variety of colors or just stick with one color.

How to Make a Cupcake Liner Door Hanger

One of my favorite things about planning my children’s birthday’s is having them be involved in the planning process and having them be a part of helping me create it.  For my twin girls Pink Princess Cooking Party, they helped me make a number 5 door hanger made out of cupcake liners.  Today I’m sharing the simple instructions to make this.

Cupcake Liner Door Hanger Tutorial:

First, take a piece of cardboard and draw the number or letter that you want to use.  Next, use scissors or an Exacto knife to cut your shape out.

Take a cupcake wrapper and gather it on the bottom.  Use your hot glue gun to glue a dot on the bottom of the cupcake liner and hold it in place for a few seconds.

Continue this in small sections until you’ve completely filled the cardboard.  Hot glue tulle or ribbon to the back or make a bow with it.

And there you have it…a budget friendly but nice door hanger to greet your guests!!!
