Caprese Stars and a Watermelon Flag

We started our July 4th celebrations this weekend with my family.  We enjoyed some fireworks, fun and of course great food!

My sister in law made this DELICIOUS patriotic watermelon and cheese flag.  I’ve seen a couple of varieties on Pinterest and it was definitely a great treat.  She used watermelon, Swiss cheese, pepper jack cheese and blueberries to make this.  The combination of ingredients was very tasty!

I put together these Caprese Stars.  I got the idea from Divine Dinner Party but I changed mine up a little.

Directions:

  • Simply cut stars out of puff pastry and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and cook as directed.
  • Let stars cool and poke a hole in the center to add pesto.
  • I used blue and red toothpicks to skewer the tomatoes, basil and mozzarella.
This was an easy and delicious appetizer to serve for the July 4th festivities.
