After sharing my Pizza on a Stick, I wanted to share some other great ideas of serving food on a stick. It is such a fun way to display food for a celebration.

I adore these Cupcake Skewers from Pizzazzerie.

What about Hot Chocolate on a Stick?

These Poptarts-on-a-Stick would be a hit at a children’s celebration.

Doesn’t this Hazelnut Ice Cream Pound Cake look delicious!

Who could resist these Cheesecake Lollipops?

These Mini Cinnamon Buns on as stick would be nice to serve for a breakfast or brunch.

Pizza on a Stick

I have had some questions about the Pizza on a Stick that I made for the Rock Star Party. This was a very easy snack to put together that everyone seemed to really enjoy!

Pizza on a Stick

Pepperoni – (I used sliced pepperoni and then cut it into smaller pieces)
Mozzarella string cheese (cut into smaller pieces)
Canned sliced black olives
Grape tomatoes

Thread pepperoni, cheese, olives, and tomatoes onto bamboo skewers. Serve.

I used bamboo sticks because this was primarily for the adults but you could use lollipop sticks if serving to children.

Since I was eight months pregnant at the time of the party, I did not want to worry about cooking too much but I had also thought about making some of these recipes.

Pizza is always a hit with adults and children at parties, so next time make the pizza a little more tempting by trying one of these recipes.

Rock Star Party

We recently celebrated my oldest daughter’s 6th birthday with a Rock Star Party. She loves Hannah Montana, music and dressing up so she couldn’t wait for this party and I will say that she definitely helped me with the planning process!

I had my daughter’s pictures taken a couple weeks before the party and luckily I got a couple of great shots to use for the party. I absolutely LOVE the great work from Laura at Watermelon Photography! You can find her blog here.

All three of my girls…

Here is my Rock Star before the party in the shirt that I made her and the skirt that she picked out!

This is the sign on the front door.

I had a “red carpet” (that was black so it would match) with all of the girls names on stars. This led to the stage area where the girls got to perform and sing their favorite Hannah Montana songs.

I set up this table with a backdrop of pink and black fabric to resemble a concert stage.

My daughter was VERY excited about the cake the was made special just for her by her Grandpa and Godfather!

I always set out a book at my kids birthdays so that family and friends can leave birthday messages or special memories from the past year.

For party favors, I made bags that had a CD, pop rocks and hair clips in them.

After all of the girls arrived, we went to the Backstage Dressing Room to get ready for our concert. They got their nails done along with hair and make up.

I made a Concert Concession Stand with snacks for all of the parents.

The food consisted of popcorn, pizza on a stick, chocolate covered pretzels, fruit kabobs and rock candy.

This is a banner that I made for the mantel and I hung pictures of my daughter from this past year on stars that hung by her name.

My dad made this guitar pinata and obviously did a great job with it!!!

My brother introduced the girls one by one as they walked down the “red carpet” to the stage.

The girls put on a great concert for everyone!!!

This was such a fun party and all of the girls loved being able to dress up and feel like a ROCK STAR!!!

My little bundle of joy surprised us on Thursday and decided he was ready to greet the world!!! We have three girls already and this is our first boy which should be an adventure. I should be back to “normal” (not sure I am ever normal) soon. Look for my daughter’s rock star party very soon.

Blue and Brown Baby Shower

A couple of weeks ago I had a couple of amazing friends host a baby shower for me. This is my fourth child so I didn’t want a big elaborate shower but it was so much fun because this will be my first boy. I am so accustomed to pink and frilly things that I actually like the change with all of the boy things.

This is a wreath that they hung on the front door with the adorable invitation that was sent to all of the guests.

My very good friends mom made all of the onesies that hung on the mantel. I just love these!

I am using brown and blue in the nursery so the cake went great with my colors!

The wonderful table with delicious food!

My friend made these adorable chocolate favors for the guests to take home.

There was a table set up for the guests to address thank you note envelopes. This is such a great idea for the mom-to-be because it saves a little more time!

I am so grateful to have such wonderful friends and family and I am looking forward to this new adventure with my little man!!!

Apple Candy Cupcakes

Today my oldest daughter started first grade so of course I have back to school things on my mind. Here is a cute idea for a back to school party or any kind of celebration incorporating apples.

This idea is from Cute As A Fox Creations, found at Someday Crafts.

The inspiration for this project came from OohlalaCandy.com, they make cute candy cupcakes, including an Apple for back to school. I saw it, loved it, and knew I could make it!

Here is what we are making:

Here is what you need:

Red Jelly beans or red candy. I paid way too much for Jelly Belly’s at the mall. Joanns has solid packs of M&Ms for 5.99 then you could use a coupon. However, the Jelly Belly’s are apple flavored so that is a plus
Cupcake liners or I used some ramekins from Dollar Tree. Three for $1.
Plastic wrap or shrink wrap
Skewers or toothpicks
Ribbon for a leaf (or a silk flower leaf)
Candy straws – also from Dollar Tree

Step 1. Layout some plastic wrap on something with sides. This will catch any candies that try to escape.

Step 2: Pour your candy in the center of the plastic wrap. 3/4 of a pound of jellybeans got me 2 apples worth.

Step 3. Bring all four corners of the plastic wrap up and twist. It will form a ball.

Step 4. Form your ball how you want it and get the plastic pulled pretty tight. You want it to look shrink wrapped or as close to it as you can.

Step 5. Secure the ball with tape and snip off any extra plastic wrap.

Step 6: Put your jelly beans into your cupcake liner or ramekin.

Step 7. Cut a piece of ribbon 3-4″ long and singe or fray check both ends.

Step 8: Bring the “right” side of one end of the ribbon around and stack it on the right side of the other end to form a leaf shape.

Step 9: Cut a small slit in the end of your ribbon and put it on the skewer.

Step 10: Insert the skewer into your jellybeans and slide all the way down to the bottom of the cup.

Step 11: Trim your skewer and work the candy straw onto the skewer. It is easier if the skewer has a point to it, so cutting at an angle may be helpful.

You are done! I can’t wait for my 4 year old’s preschool teachers to get them on the first day of school!

Variation: I put a package of sour straws at the bottom of one of the apples. That helped it look a little fuller because I hadn’t split the jelly beans exactly even.

Other fun variations:

Use a pretzel stick for the stem instead of a candy straw.
Color the end of a lollipop brown and use the end of the stick as the straw. You would just put the lollipop upside down and insert the stick through the jellybeans.

Apple of My Eye Bag

Here is another great idea for your back to school bash or to send with your kids on the first day of school from Skip to My Lou via Alpha Mom. This would also be cute to incorporate into an apple baby shower as a favor.

– A printable sandwich bag.

Download the Printable Back To School Sandwich Bag PDF

Gather some flat white sacks and painters tape.

Print one copy on draft setting on a piece of copy paper (good way to use up scratch paper).

Now position the bag over the image.

Secure sack to paper with blue painters tape. (You can reuse this paper and tape over and over to print more bags)

Run this page through your printer. On my desk top printer I place it face down with bottom of sack placed in first.

Cut your sandwich into an apple shape to make lunch extra special.

Turtles and Lizards

Who says girls don’t like things like turtles and lizards? I have two adorable parties to feature today that have used great ideas for their girls birthdays.

The first one is a Preppy Turtle Party from Paper and Pigtails. The colors are wonderful and I love how plastic trays and cups were used for the cupcake stands and you would never even know! Wonderful treats like donuts and cheerios were served to the kids and I love the pink taffy from Kate Landers Events.

The next party feature is a Leapin’ Lizard party from Bella Grace Party Designs. First of all, I would love to live close to a beach and be able to celebrate like this! I love all of the girly gecko elements in this celebration. Pen n’ Paper Flowers did a wonderful job with the lizard graphic! Be sure to check out the cute candy kabobs that were created by Sweets Indeed.
