We celebrated my son’s 2nd birthday at the end of the summer with an Airplane Party. After seeing an airshow this summer, he became very obsessed with airplanes so this was the perfect theme for him!
Be sure to read all of the details below and you can find our airplane products in our store here.
Invitations – I designed the invitations as boarding passes so the guests were ready for the flight. You can purchase the boarding pass invitation in my store here.
Activities – Since there was a wide variety of ages at the party, the main activity that everyone loved was the big airplane pinata. We also had an airplane photo prop that both the kids and adults enjoyed.
Decorations – As the guests arrived, they were greeted with a departure sign that I created with different significant flights. This summer, our vacation bible school’s theme was up in the air so I was fortunate to get some of the murals that were used. There were a couple of different airplane murals and I also used small painted airplane windows. I made oxygen masks that hung from the chandelier. I had airport run way tables outside and the kids chairs were all labeled with airplane seating.
Food – I served a variety of airplane foods in the airport “food court”. Some of the snacks were Pilot’s Popcorn, Cloud Nine Marshmallows and Control Tower Crackers. I had seen these Propeller Pops from Not Just a Mommy where she used marshmallows for a fun treat. I decided to use lollipops and I added propellers on them. The cake custom made for the birthday boy and he was very intrigued by it!
Favors – The party favors were made with brown paper sacks that were cut to look like luggage. I filled them with airplane snacks for everyone to enjoy. I used a vintage suitcase to display all of the favor sacks in. The adults also were able to take a complimentary wine from their flight.
What a wonderful time we all had celebrating my little man!
